A new mountain biking adventure has arrived in South Lake Tahoe! With the opening of Heavenly’s new Panorama Trail and mountain-bike access on the Heavenly Gondola, riders now have an exciting way to connect several of the South Shore’s most spectacular mountain-bike trails. And to help you find your way, Gondola Ski & Sports has created a new Panorama Heavenly Ski Resort Mountain Bike Trail Map — and it’s FREE! Stop by Gondola Ski & Sports in Heavenly Village and pick up your complimentary map before you head out on your ride.

🚠 Start at the Heavenly Gondola

Your adventure begins right in the heart of Heavenly Village at the Heavenly Gondola. For the first time, mountain bikers can bring their bikes aboard the Gondola and ride up to the Mid-Station. From there, riders can connect to the new Panorama Trail through the Mid-Station Connector Trail. Heavenly officially opened this mountain-bike access on August 17, 2026. Heavenly Mountain Scenic Gondola The new system changes the way riders can experience the mountain. Instead of spending the first part of your ride climbing from the valley, the Gondola gives you access to the high-country trail network.

🌄 Ride the New Panorama Trail

The Panorama Trail is approximately 4 miles of singletrack, with spectacular views of Lake Tahoe along the way. The trail was developed through a partnership involving the Tahoe Area Mountain Biking Association (TAMBA), Heavenly, the U.S. Forest Service and Tahoe Fund. But Panorama isn’t just a destination. It’s a connection. From Panorama, riders can access the larger network of trails surrounding Heavenly, including the Tahoe Rim Trail (TRT) and the Van Sickle Trail system.

🏔️ Panorama + Tahoe Rim Trail + Van Sickle

This is where the adventure really gets interesting. The new Panorama Trail connects riders into the Tahoe Rim Trail network. From there, riders can continue toward the Van Sickle area and eventually descend toward South Lake Tahoe and Heavenly Village. The result is an interconnected mountain-bike adventure that can take you through more than 10 miles of mountain trails before returning you to the Heavenly Gondola area where your ride began.

🌲 Three Trail Experiences — One Great Ride

Each section brings something different to the experience.

Panorama Trail

High-elevation riding, alpine terrain and incredible views of Lake Tahoe make Panorama a spectacular beginning to the adventure.

Tahoe Rim Trail

The TRT provides the connection into the larger network of trails surrounding the South Shore. The Tahoe Rim Trail Association maintains and provides information about the extensive trail system surrounding Lake Tahoe.

Van Sickle

The Van Sickle trail system brings the ride back toward the lake and Heavenly Village. Van Sickle also connects with the Tahoe Rim Trail through its Rim Trail Connector.And eventually, you find yourself back near the place where you started:Heavenly Village and the Heavenly Gondola.

🚲 Ride From Heavenly Village

Whether you’re riding a traditional mountain bike or a permitted Class 1 e-bike, the new Heavenly access gives riders another way to experience the mountains above South Lake Tahoe. Heavenly and local tourism information confirm that mountain bikes, including Class 1 e-bikes, are permitted on the new access system. And because Gondola Ski & Sports is located right in Heavenly Village, it’s an easy place to begin preparing for your ride. Get your bike. / Get your map. / Ride the Gondola. / Explore Panorama. / Connect to the TRT. / Ride toward Van Sickle. / And return to Heavenly Village.
